About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Blue Bell, PA, The Phil's Tavern is a vibrant bar & grill and American restaurant that perfectly balances classic comfort food with a lively, inviting atmosphere. This local favorite is a haven for those seeking hearty, flavorful dishes coupled with a robust selection of draft beers and creative cocktails. Whether you're craving a juicy Philly Cheesesteak or something with a bit more flair like the clever Pizza Burger or the indulgent Mac and Cheese Grilled Cheese, The Phil's Tavern offers an extensive menu that ensures every palate is pleased.

The culinary experience here is a delightful journey through American classics, elevated with thoughtful twists. Start your meal with one of their standout bar appetizers, such as the crispy and flavorful Cheesesteak Egg Roll or the elegantly seared Blackened Ahi Tuna paired with a subtle kick of wasabi sauce. For the main event, their Salmon Burger and Brisket Sandwich are great choices, each boasting a satisfying blend of freshness and rich, smoky tones. And no visit is complete without indulging in their decadent homemade desserts like the moist Carrot Cake or the rich Chocolate Cake, both offering a sweet, comforting finish.

The Phil’s Tavern also excels in sharing-style flavors with an array of uniquely crafted flatbreads that cater to diverse tastes—from the simple yet delicious Margarita Flatbread to the inventive Kim’s Flatbread featuring goat cheese, bacon, and a hint of cranberry jelly. Each dish is crafted with a genuine sense of care, delivering textures and flavors that feel both familiar and exciting.

Atmosphere-wise, The Phil's Tavern hums with an energetic and friendly vibe, making it a perfect spot for gatherings with family and friends. Customers appreciate the lively yet relaxed setting where laughter and good conversation flow as easily as the drinks. Some have noted the menu can feel overwhelmingly large at first, but this vastness is also a testament to their dedication to variety and catering to all tastes.

The service experience is mixed, with some patrons praising attentive team members like Ashley, who elevate the visit with their warmth and professionalism, while others have experienced moments of slower service. Nevertheless, the overall ambiance and quality of food consistently inspire guests to return for casual nights out, large group dinners, or simply a satisfying burger fix.

Pricing can be on the higher side, particularly for some specialty items like the salmon wrap, which has garnered some debate from guests comparing value with portion size and ingredients. However, the generous portions, imaginative menu choices, and well-crafted drinks often balance this, making The Phil’s Tavern a worthwhile destination for those wanting more than just a meal—you get an experience.

In summary, The Phil’s Tavern stands out as a spirited, dependable choice for American bar & grill fare in Blue Bell. Whether you’re there for their famous Philly Cheesesteak, to explore their eclectic appetizer specials, or to soak up the lively environment, you’ll find a place that embraces the essence of comfort food with a creative edge and a welcoming smile.

Food is good and selection is huge, almost overwhelming. There is something for everyone. Good draft beer selection. Prices are a bit high. $25 for a salmon wrap is a bit much IMO.

It was my first time. Our server recommended trying any hamburger, so I tried the plain hamburger (accidentally...because I didn't realize it came plain. I should've asked for tomato, lettuce and onion to dress it up). Very decent hamburger, but it lacked some wow factor. The heat of the meat was off. My medium came out well done. Extensive menu...almost overwhelming. Generally speaking prices are high. It'll be a while to try this place again.

I come here from time to time when I visit friends. There's generally a wait because it's so popular. They have a good menu and friendly help.

Phil’s Tavern was recommended by the hotel I’m staying at, went there this evening. It was absolutely jammed and people waiting for tables especially busy since it was Father’s Day today. I went to the House desk and asked if I can get a table for one, she said as a 20 minute wait, but I can get a meal at the bar if that worked. I went to the bar sat round the back and ordered a drink and food. Amazing service from the barman, I had nachos which I couldn’t finish and a Greek salad with cheese sandwich toasted croutons! Tasted absolutely amazing. Will definitely recommend and would go back there again in a heartbeat. Great service, great atmosphere, genuinely friendly people, you just want to give great service. You can tell it’s a great place by the way, the barman greeted all the people at the bar by name.

Phil's tavern has become a landmark over the last twenty five years in the Blue Bell/Ambler area. Famous for their generous portions using the highest quality and freshest ingredients. They have won awards for Best Ribs, Best Burgers, Best Chili, and Best Bartender. We've been coming to Phil's Tavern for the past 20 years. They have the best barbecue baby back ribs on this planet. Very tender, not too spicy served with delicious barbeque sauce. The baby back ribs are to die for. All the bartenders are the hardest working employees we have ever seen. Super fast and very friendly. They provide an excellent service. The rest of the staff is excellent as well. We highly recommend Phil's Tavern for their great ribs and burgers, great drinks and very friendly atmosphere. :-)
